Drill Rod, 5′ AWJ, 1-3/4″ Outside Diameter, Tapered Thread, Hollow Shaft, .250 (1/4″) wall D.C.D.M.A. standard one piece drill rod. These drill rods are male by female with the male end welded in place. 

Drilling fluid is pumped down the center of the rods to cool the bit and flush the cuttings out of the borehole.
