Reverse circulation (RC) drill pipe is a dual wall pipe used for uncontaminated, representative and continuous samples. It is also used to reduce air requirements and maintain uphole velocity in larger diameter drilling applications. RC Inlet air passes between the inner tube and outer barrel. Cuttings are evacuated through the center tube.

RC drill rod (also as dual-wall drill pipes) comprises an outer and inner pipe. with a sealing system (usually O Rings) to keep the drill string pressurized. Air is blown between the walls of the inner and outer pipes down to the hammer. while the air forces the cuttings back up through the centre of the inner pipe.

These dual wall reverse circulation drill pipes with quick release hex joints provides the perfect solution to thread binding issues that plague standard threaded drill pipe  in larger diameter drilling. When disconnecting hex joint Pipe, no counter rotation is needed as the joints simply fit together. Hex drive joints also require less tools and allow bidirectional rotation.
