The Roschen Telescopic Lip Shoe is designed for coring medium hard / hard fractured or interbedded formations. In cases where fiberglass or aluminum inner tubes are used, or circulating down-hole temperature is not well known, there can be significant uncertainty about the position of the shoe. With the Telescopic Lip Shoe, the quality of the core protection is nearly independent from the core barrel adjustment. The system features a telescopic lip that is continuously driven into the core bit groove by means of mud pressure. The core protection is then maximal whatever the adjustment is.
